In conjunction with St. Mary’s Regional Neuroscience Center
and the Nick J. Rahall, II Appalachian Transportation Institute, the
St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation works to educate area children
and their families about transportation-related safety through the
Transportation Injury Prevention and Safety (TIPS) program.
Children at Cox Landing Elementary School in Cabell County are participating
in the H.E.A.R.T. program, funded by donations to the St. Mary’s
Medical Center Foundation.
The Foundation’s first capital campaign raised money for the
H.E.A.R.T. program.
Tammy Harbour and her two daughters, Emily (left) and Allyson (right),
all participated in the HEART program. Tammy said her daughters
increased their physical activity and were encouraged by the program’s
competitions and awards.
Now retired, Lorraine Napier was a successful businesswoman who
worked as a troubleshooter for AVCO Financial Services for 37 years.
She began volunteering at St. Mary’s in 1992. Lorraine says she
was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to include St. Mary’s
in her Will.
Former Marshall Football Coach Bob Pruett and his wife Elsie were
honorary co-chairs of the Foundation’s first capital campaign, which
benefited the H.E.A.R.T. program.
